Pope's efforts for peace will be admired: Chandrika

COLOMBO, APRIL 3 (Hindu) - The Sri Lankan President, Chandrika Kumaratunga, in her condolence message, described Pope John Paul II as ``a most revered and popular global personality.''

His efforts ``to promote peace and harmony, especially in the immediate post cold war period, within and between nations, would continue to be admired in the years to come,'' Ms. Kumaratunga said.
