Indian Reds build bridges with Lanka's controversial JVP

Mar 30 (HT) Indian communists have shed their reserve about Sri Lanka's controversial JVP, and are building bridges with it. JVP's supremo, Somawansa Amarasinghe, and central committee member Bimal Ratnayake, are currently in Chandigarh, in Punjab, to participate in the 19th Congress of the Communist Party of India (CPI) beginning on Wednesday.
