Earthquake of magnitude 8.2 detected off the coast of Indonesia
BREAKING NEWS March 28 (LankaWatch.com) - Initial reports from the U.S. Geological Survey's National Earthquake Information Center indicate that an earthquake of magnitude 8.2 on the Richter scale has been recorded off the cost of Indonesia. The reports said the earthquake was caused by a slip in the same fault line that resulted in the deadly tsunami of December 2004. According the U.S. Geological Survey's National Earthquake Information Center, the earthquake has the potential to create wave activity and could launch a tsunami of similar magnitude to the one which caused large destruction in December 2004.
