A clash between STF and Tigers who tried to kidnap children from the relief camp
March 28 (LankaTruth) - An attempt by the Wanni Tiger cadres to kidnap two displaced Tamil children from the Relief Camp located at Thirukkovil in Ampara district was foiled by the STF.
This incident occurred at 1.00 p.m. on 28th (today). Among the Tiger cadres who intruded into the relief camp to kidnap the teenagers were Ampara political wing leader Kuilanban and a regional leader Manilavan. When their first attempt was foiled by the STF, a fifty member strong group led by Kuilanban and Manilavan forced their way into the Mandan Relief Camp. When they tried to kidnap the two teenage boys, the inmates in the relief camp have protested against the kidnappers. The STF had to intervene to diffuse the volatile situation that erupted between the Tigers and the civilians and in this exercise, five STF members who were assaulted by the Tigers were admitted to the Thirukkovil Hospital for treatment.
