Rebels organise strikes

Colombo : Tamil guerillas have organised strikes throughout the north and eastern parts of Sri Lanka to protest against the death of one of their top cadres.
As the guerrillas prepared for the funeral of their political wing leader for the eastern Batticaloa and Ampara districts, E. Koush-alyan, shops and other business establishments in the eastern part of the country came to a standstill yesterday.
