The air wing of the LTTE targeted the Kelanitissa power plant in Colombo early hours of the morning causing little damage to the power plant. This was the 8th and the 9th air attack carried out by the LTTE and according to government sources the air force has only been able to down one LTTE aircraft out of the 4 or 5 light aircrafts the LTTE air wing is known to have operated in the previous raids. Despite the activation of the air defence systems in the island the LTTE aircrafts were all known to have returned to the LTTE areas safely in this attack.
