70 to 75 % voter turn out at NCP and Sabaragamuwa PC elections

With no major incidents of violence, an overall 70% to 75% voter turnover was reported at yesterday’s provincial council elections for the North Central and Sabaragamuwa Provinces, Additional Commissioner of Elections (Provincial and Local), W. P. Sumanasiri said.

"The poll was relatively incident-free except for certain complaints of threats, intimidation and harassment of voters", police officials said.
"It was a peaceful poll in both the provinces", senior DIG (Elections) Gamini Navaratne said.
