The LTTE is defeated in Jaffna - The Military spokesmen

The victory of the security forces over the LTTE terrorists in Jaffna Penuinsula was pronounced by Military spokesmen Brigadier Athula Jayewardane yesterday ( Tuesday the 15th of August). The LTTE terrorists launched a major offensive against the security forces' forward defence line (FDL) since Friday 11th of August with heavy artillery fire coupled with Naval and Land infiltrations.

Despite the boatful claims of the LTTE to capture Jaffna town in three days ; the security forces thwarted the forward march of the LTTE with in two days (Sunday the 13th of August) and commenced the clearing operation afterwards.
