First postal count gives Mahinda the lead

Nov 17 (LankaWatch.com) The first election results released by the Election Commission, result of the polling division Ratnapura (Postal), gave the current Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksha the lead. Mr Rajapaksha secured 6697 votes from the 10550 valid votes counted in the polling division. With the majority of votes yet to be counted these results are not necessarily expected to be an indication of the final outcome.
