LTTE agrees for peace talks
Aug 18 (LankaNewspapers) The Tamil Tigers in Sri Lanka have announced that they've agreed to hold direct talks with the government. The announcement follows mediation by Norwegian envoys after the assassination of the country's Foreign Minister last Friday. This comes a week after the killing of the Sri Lankan foreign minister, Lakshman Kadirgamar. The talks will be the first high-level meeting between the rebels and the government in two-and-a-half years.
