Govt vetoes 'sizeable anti-insurgency op'

Aug 28 (ANN) Last Monday’s removal of Overall Operations Commander (OOC) Colombo, Maj. Gen. Vajira Wijegoonewardene signalled that the government would not sanction what well informed sources termed as a sizeable anti-insurgency operation in response to the recent assassination of Foreign Minister Lakshman Kadirgamar at his private Buller’s Lane residence.
