Sri Lanka students hurt as police disperse demonstration
COLOMBO, March 11 (Xinhuanet) -- Sri Lankan police fired tear gas and rubber bullets Friday to quell a student demonstration in the capital Colombo.
The students of the University of Sri Jayewardenapura in the suburb of Gangodawila took to streets to protest an alleged plan by the government to allow private education institutes to offer government degrees.
The government has denied any plans to privatize the country's free education policy.
